When imagination meets reality, camera comes in total harmony with pencil. The concept of mixing pencil and camera was initiated by Ben Heine. With this initiative, Ben Heine gathered together magic, illusion, poetry and surrealism. Ben Heine’s work came under limelight in April 2010 but it speaks of a long journey into graphic exploration and personal artistic development.
Heine mingled a handmade drawing with realistic background and you may feel the presence of art, artist and viewer in his work. Another characteristic of Heine’s work is contrast of colour of the two media. The picture in background is always quite colourful while the pencil work is always in black and white.
Ben Heine has focused human life, portraits, nature, animal and architecture in themes of love, freedom, Life after death, Friendship and Nature. According to Ben, “I just make art for people. I want them to dream and forget their daily troubles. I used to write poems many years ago, I want to convey a poetic and philosophical meaning into my pictures, each new creation should tell a story and generate an intense emotion, like a poem, like a melody”.
Ben’s work has cast a huge effect on graphic design community and has stirred the internet world with a jolt.
